Alpha Course
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions to discuss the Christian faith in an informal, fun and friendly environment.
Who Is Jesus?
Jesus Christ is God’s only Son. When Jesus was born 2000 years ago in Bethlehem He changed the course of human history. He was the rescuer the people of God had been waiting for. Jesus had 12 disciples who witnessed the Kingdom of God break in as Jesus brought healing, restoration and forgiveness. He suffered and was crucified, died and was buried. Three days later, He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
St. John’s in Moira is all about Him. Our desire is know Jesus and make Him known. Jesus came to bring life, and life in all of its fullness. He came to forgive sin and preach the Good News of the kingdom of God. And today he gives life to millions across the world. Following Jesus is a life-changing commitment. Following Jesus isn’t easy. Following Jesus is a big decision. But following Jesus is so worth it.
Many people in Moira already know Jesus as their Saviour and as their Lord. Are you ready to join them in this life-changing adventure?
One of the ways we help people do this at St. John’s is through the Alpha Course. Find out more about Alpha by visiting www.alpha.org.
Who Can Do Alpha?
Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge or belief in Christianity. You don’t have to come for the whole course, just come along for the first session and see what you think. No pressure, no follow up and no charge.
When is Alpha?
We are delighted to be running a Community Alpha course that is being held in Moira Primary School starting Monday 14th September 2026 at 7.30pm.
We find the school to be a neutral setting – warm and welcoming, where people from all walks of life and backgrounds have been able to come together to have a relaxed chat over a cuppa.
Having been leaders of the Alpha programme for many years, we have had the privilege and pleasure of being part of many interesting conversations with people exploring the big questions they have about life and its meaning. The relaxed format of the course encourages people to talk and share as much or as little as they like, and we have enjoyed seeing great friendships being formed as a bonus to the initial reason they take part in the course.
All opinions are as valid as the next one, everything is shared in the understanding that complete confidentiality will be respected and there is no such thing as a stupid question – chances are the person sitting next to you was wanting to ask the very same thing!
If you have any questions big or small, please feel free to contact Paul (077170 422986) or Sinead (07533 940112).
